Bordeaux coach Ricardo is in line for a move to Ligue 1 rivals Monaco.
The Principality club have contacted the Girdondins boss after sacking caretaker coach Laurent Banide on Monday.
Ricardo confirmed that he had been approached by Monaco about taking over at Stade Louis II.
"Yes, that is true. I have been contacted by Monaco. I immediately told chairman Jean-Louis Triaud," Ricardo told Sud-Quest.
"I am not saying the offer doesn't interest me but I will go on working for Les Girdondins until the chairman tells me I am free."
Triaud added: "Ricardo has received an offer from Monaco. We are discussing and thinking about it.
"Ricardo is under contract and we are preparing for next season with him in charge, but he is someone I respect and I have to listen to his arguments.
"Whatever happens a decision will be taken quickly."
